Search for activities
What are activities?
On this platform, activities are the things that people and organisations share to help others get involved, stay informed, or access support in their community.
An activity can be:
- a service your organisation provides (for example, a support group, training session, or advice drop-in)
- a regular opportunity for people to join (like a weekly class or volunteering session)
- a one-off event such as a workshop, open day or community gathering
- a question or challenge to the community to solve together
- a paid job vacancy
- a request for or offer of help
Activities appear on the platform so that community members can easily search, filter and find what’s happening around them. Each activity includes key details — such as who’s running it, when and where it takes place, and how to take part.
By adding activities, members and organisations help make the platform a living directory of what’s available locally — promoting engagement, collaboration and wellbeing within the community.
How to search for activities
Visit the activities stream. Here you can browse all activities by scrolling, or search to narrow down the results.
- Type a keyword in the search box to search.
It's best to search small terms, as searching 'I am looking to help' will search that complete sentence. It's not likely that many activities will have that sentence. Searching 'help' will produce anything with that word so you'll have more results.
- If you type a filter name, it will come up with suggestions. Click/tap on a suggestion to apply it.
- Use the 'search options' button to see all the filters on your platform and check the box next to the tags you want to search with.
- Use the 'Best Match' button to display all activities that match your skills and interests.
For this to work, you will need to have set your Best Match within your dashboard.
Once you have found an activity you are interested in, use the 'more information' link to learn more without leaving the activities stream, or click/tap on the activity tile or image to see the activity page.
