Setting up your platform

What happens during the set up stage?

When you enter into a platform licence agreement with Made Open, you will be issued with a ‘Welcome Pack’. Through a series of set up meetings, we use the structure of the welcome pack to help you define your stakeholder requirements, platform goals and desired outcomes (key performance indicators).

During the set up phase, we work together to help you define the search tags and filters, content, branding and positioning to ensure that the purpose of the platform is clear to the intended target audiences. Your platform comes with a number of standard features in addition to the activity features you have chosen.

Registration & member profiles

By signing up to your platform, members can build their profile, customise their settings and manage their account via a private dashboard.
  • Our default registration flow requires users to accept T&Cs, choose a user type, add their name, email and password and then authenticate their account via a link in their email.

Activities stream

Members can search through all user-generated activities on the stream; and also post, promote and manage their own activities.
  • We will enable the activity type feature(s) licensed on your platform.
  • We will create a primary search filter for you to customise and choose tags.
  • We will connect with 3rd party APIs like dropbox or google (if applicable).
  • We will set up an example activity.

Members search

Members can find, connect and collaborate with other members who have similar interests, skills or needs.
  • We will initially set up 3 user types in order for this to work: 'individual', 'organisation' and 'group'.
  • We will create a primary search filter for you to customise and choose tags.
  • We will create template accounts for your partners and link them into the platform footer.

Best Match

Using the ‘Search by Best Match’ button, members can quickly search for activities or members that match their saved profile.
  • We will create a primary search filter for you to customise and choose tags.
  • You can then create multiple search filters with lists of tags.

Member dashboard

Members can access messages, notifications, edit profile, manage activities and favourites and record their impact.
  • We will generate a default member dashboard with all the relevant links for all members.
  • We will create a bespoke timebank application form (if applicable).

Member badges

Members can apply for 'badges' (as defined by you) to represent a skill, interest or achievement within this platform.
  • We will create badges (as defined by you, if licensed) and utilise our library of badge designs if you do not provide your own

Content Management System

Platform admins have the ability to manage and moderate all aspects of their platform via a secure CMS.


  • We will set up your CMS to give you and your team the appropriate level of access.
  • We will create useful links from your CMS to help you find help and support.
